 The Foundation undertook a major venture in 2001 when it opened Masterson Place near the hospital. Thanks to a sizable donation from the Masterson family of Casper, the Foundation was able to purchase a Best Western Motel, allowing out-of-town patients and families a comfortable place to stay while receiving specialty medical care in Casper . Each night, the facility averages 23 residents, each for only $40 a room. Masterson Place serves all kinds of needs including heart, cancer, neurological and trauma patients and families. Basic services include transportation to and from the facility, laundry and linen services, a small entertainment area along with a reading library. The staff also helps patients and families with accessing medical and social services. Finally, the Foundation, with the help of several funding sources, provides payment vouchers to families experiencing financial hardship.
